SOME KNITTING, FOR A CHANGE...

After all that time spent on Julia's quilt,
I needed some change, and decided to indulge
myself into some knitting , YAY !

My beloved grandma' used to knit beautiful items,
such as sweaters, shawls, scarves, etc...
and she taught me the basics.

So, armed with a lovely variegated yarn,

(King Cole Shine DK - Rhapsody)

and short knitting needles, I decided to try my hands
on a scarf for next winter, and I browsed through
you-tube wonderful video tutorials (LOVE these!)

I selected this one (clic), named "The Feather and Fan"
knitting stitch, and it looked quite do-able...

My-Oh-My !  I had to undo my works at least ten times,
until I figured the pattern sequence properly !
Yet, what a woman wants...
I finally mastered the process,
and now I'm on a roll
YESSSSS

At last,  I can peacefully knit my scarf,
in thoughts and memories about my grandma'

Whatever you're making,  ENJOY IT, my friends !

HAPPY DANCE !

I've just finished handpiecing baby Julia's quilt
and I'm very happy with the result

it measures 1m10/1m25
so I think little princess will be able
to use it for quite some time...

Now I still have to complete some handquilting,
and then I'll be able to focus on some embroidery, for a change

This beauty is sleeping in a drawer
for years, and is begging to get finished...

ENJOY YOUR SEWING MY FRIENDS !

SOME PROGRESS (UNDER THE SNOW)

Indeed, winter is still bringing frost and snow, here
But we're also enjoying some lovely white landscapes,
as well as our warm chimney inside,
for which we are so grateful...

This cold weather also helps making some progress
on the quilting front
:)

Baby Julia's quilt is taking shape,
with 7 strips out of 11, hand pieced and embroidered.
The baby is due by mid April, so I think I'm on Schedule
...up to now!

I'm also making a crochet blankie for the baby,
and managed to add a cute little owl
(thanks to a You-Tube video)
(aren't we lucky we these clever tutorials ?)

Four "Hartjes" joined the stack in their box.
Not much, but it's better than Nothing.
I'm not in a hurry, it's my side-portable project
and I made them while waiting at the dentist's.

And that's it for now, my friends,
THANKS for your visit,
Take care,

ENJOY YOUR SEWING !

HEARTFUL WISHES & PROJECTS

I just love this time of the year,
when everything is new and full of possibilities...

Célébrations are over, and we did have a great family time.

Yet our little village was hit by the "Eleanor" tempest
with veeery strong winds and lots of damages in the neighbourhood.
Our back garden  wooden fence was destroyed,
(although fixed in concrete)

but we can consider
ourselves lucky, when seeing
other people's concerns...

We decided to have a positive attitude against this misadventure,
and thought that, after 34 years of good service,
(and a good insurance too)
this is an opportunity to build a brand new fence...

I'm also in the middle of a bad flu, right now,
but this gives me the possibility to quietly focus
on my 2018 sewing projects,
trying to stay realistic, yet being very excited
:D

(1)
Finish the Pyramids handquilting
(this is an absolute priority)

I'm reaching the borders now,
so it won't take long to complete it.  YAY

(2)
Start our future grand-daughter quilt
(due by next April)

(more about that quilt, in next post)

(3)
Start a new crosstitch SAL, "Joyful World" found on
It's a gorgeous calendar quilt, and it's free.
The actual blog page starts with December,
but when scrolling down, you'll find the beginning
with January.
the months names are given in different languages, too.

Here's the idea
(made by Annelies of "Quilts & Siggies Blog)

(I think one block a month is quite do-able)

(4)
Work on my little hearts appliqué side project

******

And that's it, my dear friends ... for the moment !

Wishing you all a

HAPPY STITCHING
;D
